Adhesive force is of crucial importance in the study of wetting processes. For systems with a smooth surface, the determination of the adhesive force is relatively straightforward; in case of rough surfaces like plant leaves, however, another approach is required. Tensiometers of the DCAT-series from DataPhysics Instruments combined with a high-speed camera allow to determine the adhesive force per unit area direcly. This allows easily comparable results.
